Hidroaysén is a huge hidroelectric-plants system that was approved by the Chilean government on May 9th 2011, even though 61% of the population was against it, even though there are other multiple ways to produce energy in this country in a natural, environment-friendly way (Ex: Atacama dessert)

The dams constructed will flood over 5000 hectare. And destroy this beautiful place.


The energy won’t even directly benefit the area in which the dams will be built. A 2.300 Km. long, 100 m. wide transmision line will take all the energy to the capital of this country, the voltage towers will be built every 400 meters, and they mean 23.000 hectare of total deforestation. They will go across 6 National Parks, 11 Nature Reserves, 26 areas worth conservation and 32 private protected areas.

But, that’s still not all completing this project will take about 15 years for it to start being productive, and the whole thing will only work/be useful for about 50 years, which in the grand scheme of things is nothing compared to the disaster it’ll be leaving behind.

Currently in Chile several protests, demostrations and manifestations are being held, a second poll revealed that 78% of the population is against this monster, but the government still plans to carry on with it. An international manifestation is planned for May 21th.

I just bought something from the mini mart, some snacks to accompany me while studying. as usual the guy put it all in a plastic, but I decided to take out the items and put it inside my bag instead. it fits anyway. so yeah, I just saved one plastic bag today :)

I am challenging myself to buy nothing new for a year. 

I turned off the AC in my classroom at lunch time :)

because no one was there so I turned it off, it’s cold anyway without the AC!

I wiped my hand after I wash it with a piece of tissue.

then I folded the tissue and kept it in my pocket. turns out I need tissue later when there was no new tissue available around, so the tissue I kept was actually useful! :)

today I turn off half of the class room lights because we don’t really use it. I feel awesome! :D
